Saturday, June 20th: NYC@Home Virtual Create-A-Thon
Dear Census Partners,
If we have learned anything in the past few months and the past two weeks, it is that we absolutely need to build a more equitable and resilient future for all. Together, let’s ensure investment happens in our vulnerable communities.
In that spirit, we invite you to NYC@Home, a Virtual Census Create-A-Thon hosted by New York Counts 2020 on Saturday June 20th from 1:00PM-4:00PM EST.
In partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau, this event aims to produce community-driven Census outreach materials that can be distributed by and for the community when reaching out to multi-generational or non-traditional (aka doubled-up) households across New York City.
We understand that at this time your bandwidth may be full, but please consider participating in the Virtual Create-A-Thon by sending a couple of your staff members as well as organizing your community members to join. Already involved in making NYC@Home happen are ABNY, Brooklyn Public Library, Citizens’ Committee for Children of New York, New York Branch NAACP, NYIC, and Queens Public Library. Our hope is that this event connects to your existing or future Census-related initiatives, and that together our efforts can be amplified.
For this event, we are seeking:
- Organizers, advocates, content creators passionate about getting NYC counted
- Tech-savvy creatives that can join an online platform, have a laptop, camera, or other tools for creating digital content
- Teens, young people, and anyone who has ideas and the capacity to step up for their community
Sign up and get more information here: http://nyc-at-home.
And don’t forget to spread the word! Please pass this message along to anyone looking to make sure their families, friends, and neighbors have what they need for the next 10 years.
