A Community, Culinary Celebration
Join Census Cooks for Culture, Cuisine, and the Census, an event celebrating the 2020 Census and food – two things that unite us all. Listen to guest chefs, students, and NYC community organizations discuss the intersection of these ideas while sharing exciting, original recipes! We will redefine the importance of the census through community.
The 2020 Census determines our representation in Congress and the funding of health care, schools, housing and more in our NYC communities for the next ten years. However, our population is severely undercounted, especially because of census misinformation and myths. Let’s empower our communities, families, and friends to fill out the census and secure our future.
In this event, you’ll learn:
- delicious recipes from Bolivian, Chinese, and other cuisines
- myths and truths about the census from chefs and neighbors
- why the census is especially important during COVID-19 and BLM movements
- how to participate in Census 2020 efforts from your home
